VaxiCode - The Official COVID-19 Vaccine Passport App for Quebec
VaxiCode is a free Android app developed by the Ministère Santé et Services Sociaux du Québec. It allows citizens to securely record their proof of vaccination containing a QR code. Users can register multiple proofs of vaccination and verify the contents of each of the QR codes. The app provides an interpretation of the proof of vaccination, which helps users know their protection status from COVID-19.
The app encrypts the proof of vaccination on the device and does not transmit it to anyone. The only way to share the proof of vaccination is by presenting the QR code to a third party. VaxiCode does not collect any usage analytics, ensuring the privacy of users.
The app requires a weekly update of the vaccine protection rules, which can be downloaded only with the users' consent. The app communicates with the internet only to check the availability of these updates. To use the app, users need to grant access to the camera to scan the QR codes of proof of vaccination or access to the phone's photo library to import the image of proof of vaccination.
