Play god of the universe
Universe Sandbox 2 lets you control how the universe works. You can modify a solar system into what you think would work. It is based on real physics, so if you make a mistake while building your universe, disaster is imminent.
The game has no objective in its playstyle, requiring you to create your fun as you manipulate the solar system. Players can do whatever they want within the game. Accurate physics creates for interesting destruction sequences matched with great graphics.
Gameplay
The experience is designed to play in VR. You can throw planets around to cause massive collisions or stop them in orbit, playing with the rules of gravity. The gameplay is easy for anyone to understand, as it is made so that players learn as they go.
System Requirements
The software demands little from your system with a 2 GB minimum RAM. It works with Windows, macOS, Linux, and Ubuntu while also being available for virtual reality experiences.
Missing elements
The application could use some direct objectives, as the player is left to grasp for fun. Also, there is no music within the game. It is an attempt meant to emulate the emptiness of space but that falls short.
Alternatives
Universe Sandbox Legacy is the first entry in the series. It does not exceed expectations, as number 2 completely redid the engine of the game and graphics improved it immensely.
Space Engine is an option for a universe sandbox. This game mostly focuses on exploring the various planets rather than playing with how the physics of the world operate. Also, Space Engine is free while Universe Sandbox 2 is not.
Great experience
The Sandbox gives the player an interesting experience with controlling space while teaching a bit about physics. It is not too hard to pick up, but it lacks any direct purpose. Nonetheless, it is a fun experience and is worth trying out.
