PlayStation Now - Is This Cloud Gaming Method Similar To That Of SIE?

PlayStation Now is the latest entrant in the video game console market. PlayStation Now enables users to play classic PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 games on their PC using a broadband internet connection. This is done without the use of any CD or memory stick, but requires the installation of a small piece of software on the computer that has been created by Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). Once this software has been installed, the gamer simply needs to launch his/her computer and the gaming console will start working.
The PlayStation Now service is similar to that of the cloud gaming subscriptions that are available on the World Wide Web. These services enable subscribers to play online games and watch movies, television shows, music videos and live television programs from a wide range of TV networks such as Sony, AT&T, Verizon, Comcast, Time Warner, Hulu, Viacom, Mediacom, Discovery and many others. With the introduction of PlayStation Now, SIE is hoping to extend its current PlayStation business model which allows gamers to play games on the go.
Many of the PlayStation Now games are in high demand, especially the older ones, so if you're a diehard fan of older video game consoles, then you will definitely want to subscribe now for more old classics and demos. I am sure that even hardcore gamers will find it very convenient to be able to access this PlayStation Now service without having to leave their homes. It will also be interesting to see how this new online service evolves over time, especially with Microsoft and Nintendo having introduced their own cloud gaming plans. In the mean time, I'm sure that PlayStation fans will continue to have fun with this new feature of the PS3 and Wii.
