PeperNote: Free and Simple Sticky Note Tool
PeperNote is an open-source utility tool developed by an indie software developer named Jean-Paul Mikkers. It is a sticky note program solution that is lightweight and easy to use. However, it offers minimal options that users may find lacking or inadequate. Nevertheless, the entire application is free for you to try and experience.
PeperNote will be a handy companion program, especially if you need a platform to quickly write down a sudden idea or a piece of information. When installed, it is unobtrusive and won't clutter on your taskbar as it silently sits in the system tray only. When you double-click or right-click its icon, you will be able to create a 'New Note' instantly.
Once opened, you can change the color of your note. You can do so by clicking the pin icon on the top-left corner of the interface. However, this function lacks a palette, so you can't really pick the color manually. It switches between a few pre-defined options instead. Another thing that the app lacks is the support for any hotkey combination. There is no way for users to open any saved note or create a new one using any keyboard shortcut.
The lack of some features does not mean that PepperNote does not have something up its sleeve. The outstanding offering that it probably has is the plenty amount of text formatting options. You will be able to adjust your content note's font size as much as you want. You can freely choose its alignment type—right, left, or center. Selected words or entire paragraphs can be emphasized by bold, italic, underline, or strike-through.
Even with minimal options, PeperNote is a useful sticky note program that will help you quickly jot down ideas and information. Although still lacking with many essential features, it is still functional to use. It also offers numerous text formatting options. Something that you will not find in the Windows built-in sticky note app and other related note tools.
