Outworlder Review
Outworlder is the debut project of Igloosoft Games LLC, a new indie game studio based mainly in the Eastern US, where most of the staff are comprised of former hobbyists who have graduated with degrees in programming. They like to take risks, and if they fail, at least they learned from their mistakes. Outworlder is an ambitious project of theirs, and if they succeed, it will not be the first time. It is set in a brave future world, wherein the entire planet has been destroyed by Outworlders, a race of evil creatures who rule everything in their realm by fear and terror. As the only living being in this world, you play the role of Outworlder, a young prince, whose quest for revenge will help you fight against this dreaded race of Outworlder.
If you like strategy and simulation games, then Outworlder is not the game for you. It's more of a visual novel, which means that players are required to interpret and understand the behavior of the characters they meet on each scene, as well as react to those events in a limited number of steps. For this reason, the player has to carefully define behaviors for each character they meet, while laying down the groundwork for interactions between those characters. The way you do this will determine your success, as there are many ways how you can effectively use outworlder to accomplish your goals as a character in the game.
Outworlder uses a unique approach to game design. In this game, the player is required to carefully define behaviors for each of the 20 or so different characters they meet and interact with, while designing the landscape to fit their needs. For instance, you can create islands as your outward home, fill them with creatures and plants of your own design and build your own private dock to get supplies from the islands you have created. You can also hire workers to work on the islands for you, or send your children on a mission to find items or cure a sickly pet. All of these actions will help you create the world you are in, using the Outworlder as your tools. This is truly one of the most interesting games on Facebook, and if you enjoy being a part of an online community, then Outworlder may be just the game for you.
