The True Ingredients is a free horror game for Android by CollectMoments. In this horrendous SpongeBob SquarePants game, the truth about the Krusty Krab Restaurant is revealed. As it turns out, this seemingly child-friendly cartoon has a deep secret.
The secret ingredient for hamburgers is human flesh, and the hungry fish have an insatiable appetite for it. This game has good graphics and a very unsettling premise, like Escape The Ayuwoki Horror Fort or The Sign - Interactive Ghost Horror.
As the premise is feeding sea creatures with hamburgers, the controls are simple, and there aren’t many different mechanics. There are also puzzles to solve, such as finding combinations to open new doors.
A lot of time is spent navigating through mazes, which adds a claustrophobic setting that sits well with the rest of the game. There are some twists, such as being attacked for demanding payment, liberating prisoners and other entertaining situations.
Great but disturbing graphics
The True Ingredients 3D graphics are very well-made, but the animations are slightly clunky. Throughout your adventure, there’s the danger of running into a horrendous SpongeBob SquarePants incarnation, along with other popular characters ‘gone bad’.
The environments are very well thought out and perfectly represent a children’s horror cartoon. Dark, opaque, but colourful corridors create the perfect atmosphere.
On paper, preparing and delivering human meat hamburgers, dealing with creepy customers and solving some puzzles. Sounds great. However, it doesn’t have a lot of replayability.
These actions are repetitive, so the novelty wears off after a while. However, the graphics are very polished and never disappoints.
Spooky SpongeBob for fans
This is a great horror game for fans of the show. It’s very disturbing to see these seemingly innocent creatures turn into monsters, which is the main appeal here. As a game, it’s entertaining, but only for a limited amount of time.
The graphics are excellent, and it has enough good things going on for fans of this type of game.
