Rise of the Argonauts, developed by Liquid Entertainment and published by Codemasters, is a full version action role-playing game released in 2008 for Windows, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. The game is set in Ancient Greece, where the player takes on the role of Jason, a Greek king who embarks on a journey to find the Golden Fleece and bring his deceased wife back to life. The game universe is built on ancient Greek mythology, featuring well-known heroes like Hercules, Achilles, Medea, Medusa, Patroclus, and others.
The game features a large number of dialogues and enemies confrontations on vast, detailed levels. Players can use different weapons such as swords, spears, and maces, each with its own characteristics and gameplay. Additionally, players can upgrade Jason's skills on four branches: Ares, Hermes, Apollo, and Athena. Points for upgrades are earned by completing tasks and answering correctly in dialogs. Critics have noted the game's simple battles with bosses and the strange arrangement of enemies on each level, which simplifies the gameplay.
