Free space platforming game for Windows
Screenshots
Project Vaelius is a free platform game for Windows. It's a ZX Spectrum-style game from developer TokuSoft. The graphics will take you back to the early days of home computing; even so, this is far from being a simplistic game.
You play a space hero with a double mission. First, you must confront the lethal gas called Vaelius that's threatening every planet in the universe. At the same time, you must collect DNA samples from all of the creatures you encounter. These creatures have been infected by the gas. If you have a passion for all games related to ZX Spectrum, S.o.L.o. 2.433 and Metamorphosis Final are also worth checking out.
Story
In August 2062, the Draenor Corporation launched the gas known as Vaelius into space. They intended to use it as a weapon of mass destruction. However, it's gone out of control and is infecting the Sarkor planet system, turning every living creature into a threat to the universe.
Weeks later, Space Marine John Kromdar is called in to attempt to stop the spread of Vaelius and gather DNA samples from every infected species.
Controls
The controls for Project Vaelius are simple. First, there are standard movement controls that you find in almost any other game. The only other action is triggered by the space bar, which fires your DNA-collecting ray at the creatures you come across.
Graphics
Project Vaelius is a faithful recreation of a ZX Spectrum game. In keeping with that, the graphics are composed of large pixels in bright colours. As you may expect, there's not a curved line to be seen.
Head into space
If you're an older computer enthusiast, Project Vaelius is an excellent way of revisiting the days of the ZX Spectrum. On the other hand, if you're curious about those times but are too young to remember them, this game is an excellent blast from the past.
