Montage: Screenwriting made easy
Looking to succeed in Hollywood? Montage is a screenwriting application that allows you to put your movie ideas down and organize all aspects of your story. With its powerful interface and the ability to import and export scripts, Montage provides a user-friendly experience for aspiring movie directors.
My first impression of Montage is that it's easy enough for almost anyone to use. The different elements, such as script, scenes, characters, or research, are listed on the left side of the interface. Adding or removing new elements, entering keywords for better identification, and formatting entries are all straightforward tasks. Additionally, Montage offers a selection of nice script templates to help users get started, including some from the BBC. Importing and exporting scripts is also extremely easy.
However, serious film directors might feel a little disappointed with Montage as it lacks some essential features. Firstly, it does not track changes made to the script, which can be a significant drawback for collaborative work. Secondly, Montage lacks a proper timeline view, limiting the ability to visualize the flow of scenes and events. While you can set it to split the scene or full screen, these options are only available when viewing the script or specific scenes.
Overall, Montage is probably a good choice for aspiring movie directors thanks to its attractive interface and ease of use. However, more seasoned writers may lament the display limitations and lack of change tracking. Despite these drawbacks, Montage remains a valuable tool for organizing and developing movie scripts.
