Lamplight City, developed by Application Systems Heidelberg Software, is a detective adventure game set in an alternate steampunk-ish Victorian past. The game is set in the thriving port city of New Bretagne, which is a beacon of progress and industrial advancement in the New World. However, the city is plagued with poverty, class struggle, and crime. As Miles Fordham, a police detective turned private investigator, you must investigate crime scenes, interrogate suspects, and get information by any means necessary to solve cases and track down your partner's killer before your entire world comes apart.
Lamplight City offers players the freedom to be the detective they want to be, but every action they take will have consequences. The game features five cases to solve, with multiple suspects, false leads, and different outcomes. If a case becomes unsolvable, players can move on to the next one, and the story will adapt based on their choices. The game offers a single-click interface with no inventory, and players can gather clues and documents in their casebook for review. The game also features a fictional city with four boroughs to explore, each with its own unique flavor, and players will meet over 50 professionally voiced characters. The game's original score is composed by Mark Benis.
