Grand Theft Auto 2 is a highly popular action-adventure video game, developed by DMA Design, and published by Rockstar Games for Microsoft Windows and Sony PlayStation within October 1999, and later for the Nintendo PlayStation and Xbox in 2021. It's the sequel to the successful first Grand Theft Auto game, and a prequel to the more popular games in the franchise. The game covers the globe as the criminal underground struggles to protect the city of New York from the onslaught of the game's bad guys. The story involves the unreliable protagonist - a wealthy man called Franklin (Michael Mann) - who travels the world and places bets on fights. In short, he puts his own life in danger, for the sake of others...
As is common with any video game released on consoles, the game has a standard single player mode, which gives you access to the game's numerous activities, though if you wanted to multiplayer you'd have to play the game using a web browser. If you're familiar with the first Grand Theft Auto, you'll feel right at home with this release, though there's nothing quite like playing the game on Windows. Rockstar Games has updated the graphics to a higher standard, improved textures and a better overall look and feel. However, the biggest difference you'll notice is that the game runs smoothly - especially on the more advanced computers of all users.
There are several unused objects in the game, such as the following: the van which drive around in the game, the ladder that the player can use to access the loading zone, the police car that parks in front of the player's house in the beginning, and a briefcase containing information about how Franklin works. However, there are also several leftover features from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, such as the vending machine, the billboard and many other similar objects. Although they don't make too much of an impact on gameplay, they do add a bit of character to your character when you see them. The features weren't really developed for Grand Theft Auto 2, but they still add a nice touch. They don't take away anything from what makes this game special, but add a few extra options that weren't available in the original.
