Free app to save money on fuel
With GasBuddy, you may never pay full price at the pump again. It’s a free app for Android that saves you money when driving in the USA, Canada or Australia.
GasBuddy can also tell you what services are available at a given petrol station, where to find the cheapest petrol stations near you and even help you with directions during your trip. If you associate your bank account with the app, you can also use GasBuddy to pay for it. Similar apps to GasBuddy are Gas Guru, Waze and MapQuest.
What is GasBuddy?
Each time you buy fuel, you enter the price you paid into GasBuddy. That information, along with the location and a date stamp, is made available to all other registered users.
Every time you update the app, you receive points that can be exchanged for tickets for the daily draw. The winner of the draw gets a prepaid petrol card.
How does GasBuddy CashBack work?
GasBuddy is part of the Shop Your Way program, so you go about your shopping as usual and earn points to be redeemed against future purchases.
Link GasBuddy with Shop Your Way, and whenever you buy petrol, you’ll earn $0.30 per gallon in CashBack points. They’re credited to your Shop Your Way account, saving you money on other shopping.
Is Pay with GasBuddy legit?
Yes, it’s perfectly legitimate. Credit card processing fees are a significant overhead for petrol stations but Pay with GasBuddy isn’t a credit card. Therefore, the petrol station operator passes those savings on to you by reducing their fuel prices.
Are there other apps like GasBuddy?
The closest alternative to GasBuddy is Gas Guru. Petrol pricing information is provided by a company called Oil Price Information Service (OPIS) rather than individual users. Waze and MapQuest also show the prices of petrol in your area in addition to their respective mapping services.
Share your details
Rewarding users for sharing their fuel expenditure and local information is hard to pass up on. Add to that the reward for simply supplying that information, and GasBuddy becomes indispensable when you’re shopping for non-fuel products.
