Conflict: Global Storm is a high-quality, highly detail-laden tactical shooter by Pivotal Games, released for Windows and X-Box. It's the latest release in the Conflict series, following up on its predecessors Arma 3 and Himmelsfluch III: World in Conflict. In contrast to previous games in the series, this one comes with a comprehensive tutorial manual which guides you through all the game's mechanics and gameplay, so that you can easily pick up where you left off at level start. In fact, after finishing the tutorial, you can even replay some levels if you feel up to it.
Now, let's get down to the meat and potatoes... Conflict: Global Storm features an all new high-level game mode, "Versus Chaos" - which pits your rag-tag squad against an alternate version of themselves in a never-ending battle for global domination. As in the single-player version, you are allowed to develop two types of military units: the American Forces and the Japanese Armed Forces. These two armies must work hand-in-hand to defeat the ever growing threat of the Chaos forces, which consists of several Skaavs and Grunts, and even some Tetsubin and Jumpers. While each of these different kinds of military units have their own strengths, weaknesses, and abilities, your goal is to utilize your skills to destroy as many of the opposing forces as possible before reaching the finish line and winning the game.
The actual combat is quite intense, particularly when you take into consideration the large number of players that are taking part in the battle. Some people call it a World War III simulator, but that would certainly be an exaggeration, seeing that this game features the kind of action you'd expect from a sci-fi video game. However, if you really want to get your adrenaline pumping, you can always opt to go into "Versus Chaos" to see just how one-upmanship can turn the tide of conflicts. If you like playing military games that put a strong focus on realism and real-life combat, then you'll definitely want to check out the highly entertaining and addictive title Conflict: Global Storm.
