Blobby Volley - Beach volleyball with blobs
Just when you thought there was nowhere to go for sports game developers, along comes Blobby Volley. As the name suggests, it's beach volleyball, but with blobs as players. Despite its silly concept, Blobby Volley is surprisingly enjoyable and offers simple playability. The game features static graphics with blobs as players, resembling a game of Pong but with volleyball as the underlying concept.
Configuring Blobby Volley can be a bit frustrating. It is difficult to set the CPU as the opponent, and changing player settings is not intuitive. While the control keys can be customized, I encountered issues when trying to change my opponent. Additionally, attempting to play a network game proved unsuccessful as no servers could be found. The "Scan for servers" option in the "Network Game" menu did not work, and the game eventually froze and crashed. Furthermore, some of the program's messages were not properly translated from German to English.
Despite these drawbacks, Blobby Volley is a fun and easy-to-play game. However, the developer could have done a better job in terms of user configuration and addressing stability issues.
