Artifacts and Antiquity is a free first-person horror game developed by Zed_Technician for Windows. In this game, you play a protagonist named Gracie, working at Stahl & Co., a shipping company. Your shift starts to become stranger and stranger as the night unfolds and artefacts start to come to life, and not all of them are friendly.
It’s a combination of point-and-click, and object search, as well as keeping an eye out for the ‘sentinels’ if you want to get out alive. The Vermander Curse, Beware the Shadowcatcher, also developed by Zed_Technician, or Eyes, are also worth checking out.
An intriguing mystery
Artifacts and Antiquity lets you play as Gracie, an everyday woman fired from her job and hired at the Stahl & Co. shipping company to guard the place. The night starts quietly until some of the artefacts you’re supposed to guard start to act strangely. Let’s just say it offers a unique experience with different endings you should experience first-hand. It’s a game that requires you to pay attention to the dialogue, because it serves up hints throughout the adventure.
Unique graphic style
Like all of Zed_Technician’s work, this game offers a unique visual style with minimalistic graphics reminiscent of the first Playstation, only more polished. every piece of information is conveyed with dialogue or text. This is a trademark of Zed_Technician, and so are characters with animal features and disproportionate characteristics. This makes the game even creepier, as you’re not always sure who’s your ally or enemy during the adventure.
Narrative horror
The gameplay is straightforward as you wander in the facility of the shipping company, interact with objects, and complete quests given by NPCs. However, you’ll have a radio to communicate with these NPCs and send them to various locations, using the camera system to guide them.
A unique style of horror game
Artifacts and Antiquity offers a narrative horror game with unsettling design and mysteries that unfold depending on your choices, creating multiple endings. It offers a genuinely creepy atmosphere, decision-making, and good old jump-scares. The graphics are cleverly done, using a modernised version of old-school PlayStation imagery.
Considering it’s available for free, and the varied endings influenced by your decision-making, it’s definitely worth grabbing Artifacts and Antiquity. It will only take around an hour to beat, but the multi-endings give it good replayability, and you’ll certainly want to return to it multiple times.
