Video conversion software for PC

Total Video Converter by Effectmatrix changes your videos from one format to another. Burning these films to CDs is another one of the main features of this software. Also, it can rip from CDs, while also creating slideshows and combining videos into a single video. Lastly, it can handle any sort of needs you have with multiplexing audio or film.
Aging and limited functionality
File format conversion is highly important now that we have so many different devices that we use. Now, there has been a decrease in the need for them as more and more devices become able to use various types of data.
Total Video Converter was originally released by Effectmatrix to handle the majority of cases. Unfortunately, the Windows version has not been updated for years, so the program only runs on computers with Windows 7 and older.
Another thing is the trial version lasts for 15 days before you have to purchase the application. Also, the program has a dated look compared to more up to date programs like Wondershare.
What is the use of Total Video Converter?
TVC is used to convert videos. When you open up the program, it is easy to see what to do with it. It is organized with tabs detailing each of the different functions that are available to you.
Its strong suit is changing between video formats. It has a speed of 15 minutes to convert an hour-long movie to another style. It can be used especially for allowing your data to be accessed by an mp3 player.
You can also use it to make slideshows. A variety of transition effects are available for one to use. Also, you can add music to the slideshow.
What are the features available?
When compared to other programs like Handbrake, TVC fails with the number of features available. However, it still does have some that allow it to manage still to do the basic things needed to convert movies and audio.
It has the ability to modify all these types of files: divx mpeg4 avi, mp4, 3gp, xvid, amr audio. These ones are some of the main formats used by iPads, iPhone, and cell-phones.
All videos and audio can be converted into what is suitable to use on VCD, SVCD, and DVD hardware. As soon as this is done, you will be able to burn them onto the CD. Also, anything ripped will appear in these specific formats.
TVC can work with Blu-Ray Formats. The final main ability it has is being able to create effective slideshows through stripping music and photos away from the video's place in.
The user interface is quite simple and easy for new users to gain an understanding. The software also provides a walkthrough for novices to get the hang of the program before they start diving into the program.
What are the bugs and limitations?
This program, while being virus free and safe for any Windows PC before Windows 8, is prone to many issues. It has a problem with freezing quite often, and while sometimes, it will start working again, you may have to restart it, losing all your work. The system is prone to crashing when the software is being run on the computer.
When a video is converted using the program, the process isn’t perfect and comes with a variety of problems. The audio quality is decreased significantly. At times, hissing sounds are heard. When viewing the finished product, there was blurring apparent along with pixelation, and compression of the artifacts.
TVC also does not support 4K files. Beyond that, the video editing capabilities are severely limited, which is quite a downside as most converters come with abilities to also do proper editing. Many of the more modern file formats needed for new smartphones are unavailable.
The user interface is limiting as well because of the outdated style. It will be unfamiliar to anyone who has used a newer software, a significant step backward. Lastly, it also does not support any media grabbing features for websites like Youtube where much of the media of today comes from.
Alternative video converters
Wondershare is a good option for a video converter. While it is more expensive than all the other programs, it has no problems with the quality of the final product like any of the others. Moreover, it is rather fast, taking five minutes to change hour-long films. Another thing is that it can handle 4k movie formatting.
Handbrake has a lot of compatibilities, and it's free, which is great when compared to TVC’s high price. It is quite difficult to start using as it has a complicated user interface. However, you can do the basic work without understanding the whole program, but if you do it has a lot of utility.
Handbrake may not be extremely fast compared to Wondershare, but still, it's free. Another thing that it has is several presets which will make everything a bit easier.
Aimersoft Video Converter Ultimate has the fastest speeds of the other ones available here. Also it comes at around the same price as TVC. Lastly, it has much more customization and enhancement of videos available.
Another option is Leawo Video Converter. For a paid program, it is the lowest in price. While it takes a while to convert videos, one of its strengths lies in the editing options available. There is minimal degradation of the quality, fortunately.
Lackluster program and features
There is very little good to say about Total Video Converter. With its antiquated system and inability to be used on most new systems, it automatically rejects many potential users. All of the other competitions, including the free options, have better options available for editing. Overall, this download is one you can skip in favor of another.
The most recent update gave the software the current skin, and also made it integratable with Windows Explorer.
