Panda VPN Free is a virtual private network service that hides where you are in the world to protect your privacy. It comes connected to all the other Panda services, like the antivirus, combining several security elements into one. It is known for being run by the Hotspot Shield VPN.
Panda Dome
What’s unique about this Panda is everything that comes with it in the Dome. Specifically, the antivirus is the most notable of them all. However, it will most likely conflict with any other antivirus previously on the device in question.
The Dome also comes with USB protections, a process monitor which is an enhanced version of task manager, and a Rescue Kit. The last tool can recover a damaged computer or USB in some cases. These extras may or may not be the right choice for you, but they certainly add some value.
Performance and Security
Based on the Hotspot shield’s engine, the speed of the VPN is marvelous compared to other VPNs. As Panda is much more spread out in their development, having another company produce their software was a great idea, and it comes with excellent speed.
The VPN connects quickly to servers, often within one or two seconds compared to other similar services, which take 10 seconds. Unfortunately, the servers cannot fool services like Netflix or IBBC to get the US-only content.
User interface simplicity
This program runs off the idea that the more simple the UI, the better. It does not provide any extra information about the connections beyond merely connecting to whichever country you want. It doesn’t even have a notification for when you disconnect from the server.
The display itself has a modern feel to it. However, as the VPN comes a part of a package, the interface is a bit bulky compared to others because of all the other options included. Therefore, this app isn’t good at giving you control but remains pure.
Limitations
While it does allow you to download torrents, there is no practical way of doing this with this version. Panda VPN Free only comes with 150 megabytes of data every day for internet browsing.
No technical support is given for Panda VPN. Also, many of the features that come with the other tools that come automatically downloaded are unavailable for use. You also can’t choose your location. Therefore, you won’t be able to do specific things.
Not enough value
Unless you are interested in the antivirus or another component of Panda Dome, the free version is not worth it with the limitation. Hotspot shield offers 500 megabytes per day free. If you are considering purchasing the VPN, this might be an excellent option to test out before you buy it.
