With its sprawling popularity, it has spawned countless merchandise, spin-offs, parodies, and even illegal clones. What is it about Minecraft that has captured the interest and imagination of gamers from all around the world?
General Concept
Minecraft is a 3D game developed by Mojang and published combines elements from a wide variety of genres. Its most notable gameplay feature is its sandbox world-building, but it is complemented by a more RPG style survival mode where players can get attacked and killed by monsters once the sun sets.
Gameplay
Minecraft is an open-world and open-ended game which means there are no specific objectives to finish the game. Instead, the only objective in the game is to unleash your creativity to build strong and sturdy buildings, as well as survive the hordes of zombies that plague your world. In order to craft weapons and building materials, you need to gather resources across the world. You can chop trees to get wood and mine mountains to get stones and rocks. Then you can use these materials to craft better items or you can use them to build houses and fortresses that suit your taste. When it comes to building in Minecraft, there are very few limitations and restrictions to your creativity. If you have a vision, all it takes is dedication and perseverance to realize it.
Game Modes
Minecraft has two game modes: Survival and Sandbox Mode. Survival is the default mode of the game where monsters come out during night time. As its name suggests, it is more difficult since you have to retreat to a safe place or fight your way through the horde when night time comes. Sandbox Mode is more relaxed since you won’t encounter any monsters at all, allowing you to focus on gathering resources and building your creations.
