Helluva Boss: Going Postal Mod is a free mod for Doom II, adding aspects from the Helluva Boss TV show to the original game. You play as Moxxie, heading through the bowels of hell to deal with the demonic employees of I.M.P. For other variations of games from the popular Bethesda franchise, you can try Doom 95, Age of DOOM Mod and Brutal Doom.
While there are a few new maps, most of the gameplay elements from Doom II remain the same. You’ll see Moxxie at the bottom of the screen while running around areas, shooting demonic creatures that approach you. There is even a reference to the Wolfenstein game from that time period.
Facing I.M.P demons
The general concept behind Helluva Boss: Going Postal Mod remains the same as Doom II. You run around maps with retro graphics, collecting weapons, ammo and health while blasting at demons. The chief difference is that you play as Moxxie, taking your guns to the assassin I.M.P. city instead. It joins two well-known brands into one.
A change of face
There are a few aesthetic changes that make Doom II look like Helluva Boss. For one, you’ll see Moxxie’s face at the bottom by the weapons and ammo. Some of the locations and items also look different to match the TV show, but it’s still mostly the Doom game. You’ll also discover new areas with variations on the original puzzles, locks and keys.
Nod to Wolfenstein
One of the secret areas in Helluva Boss: Going Postal Mod is a nod to one of Bethesda’s other games from that time, Wolfenstein. You’ll see similar walls, floors, enemies, and weapons while retaining the Moxxie touch.
A new take on a Doom classic
Helluva Boss: Going Postal Mod lets you play your Doom II game in a new way. While the guns are mostly the same, you now take on I.M.P as Moxxie, dealing with the demonic scum of the underworld.
Even many of the enemies look the same as in the original game, so this is mostly just a fan game featuring the Helluva Boss characters instead. You’ll enjoy discovering new locations and ways to kill the demons.
