Dr. Web is a software suite by an anti-malware company, Doctor Web. The core components of the program consist of an anti-virus engine and virus database. These are coupled with the heuristic analyzer. Together, they stop unknown viruses from hacking your device. These components are rigorously being updated. This includes supplementary signatures for the virus databases. These measures are placed to keep the software up-to-date.
The suite consists of these components and functions:
SpIDer Guard: Dr. Web’s native antivirus component. It simultaneously opens and scans files in real-time.
SpIDer Gate: Dr. Web’s second native antivirus component. It controls access to web resources by blocking all malicious objects from incoming HTTP traffic.
Scanner: This is a virus-detection component. It is a fast, full-featured and customizable scanner. This gives it authority to neutralize detected threats, specifically to cure, delete or move to Quarantine. It does this by detecting the threat and responding according to the preference settings. You can also alert the Scanner should you be suspicious of a file.
Quarantine: Dr. Web’s native folder. It is used to isolate infected files or other types of threats.
Dr. Web can be installed on Apple devices running mac OS 10.7 or later.
Another anti-virus suite for macOS is Bitedefender. The software can be installed on both macOS and iOS devices. Not only can it block malicious software but it offers file encryption, firewall, and anti-spam functions,
Outstanding virus detection
Dr. Web features keep viruses at bay. The real-time monitoring is supported by on-access anti-virus technology. It cannot be terminated by other applications nor can viruses pass through it.
