CuteFtp is an FTP client for Mac OS X. GlobalSCAPE, the company that created it, has also made an application for Windows and Linux, as well. A free demo of the program can be downloaded at their website. GlobalSCAPE it is a commercial product that can be purchased or paid for. It's an excellent solution for users who use a regular FTP client but are familiar with the Windows method of uploading and downloading large files.
CuteFtp works by browsing through the web to find websites that have an FTP connection. Once the file is found, you browse through the site manager, select the files you want to move and copy them to your local hard drive. GlobalSCAPE also comes with a ssl certificate, which allows you to connect to the ftp site manager with security features like password authentication and maximum upload limits.
A trial version of CuteFtp was released in June 2009. It is not known if the program is going to continue to be developed or not. There are rumors that the program may be discontinued as it does not seem to be getting much popularity amongst internet users. GlobalSCAPE states that they intend to keep the software under wraps for some time so that internet users are not aware of the new feature set in CuteFtp. The trial version is apparently available for free and if you wish to download and try out CuteFtp, then follow the link provided below.
