BOOM is a remake of the classic Bomberman, bringing the feel of 8-bit console gaming to the Mac. The developer describes BOOM as "Bomberman meets Doom". Your mission is to infiltrate eight alien-infested areas, each one divided into 10 sub-zones. You must eliminate all enemies using your bombs and, in true arcade style, defeat the Big Boss alien.
The graphics in BOOM are very basic, as are the sound effects and soundtrack. However, there are 80 different levels to keep you entertained, along with 10 different enemy characters of varying intelligence and weaponry. BOOM is a lot of fun at first, but it can become a bit tedious before reaching the latter levels.
