Overclocked: A History of Violence is a full version game developed by House of Tales for Windows. The game is a psychological thriller that takes place during a catastrophic thunderstorm in New York City. The main character, David McNamara, is an army psychiatrist called to consult on a case that requires his expertise in forensic psychiatry. The game explores violence as an archetypical yet actual condition of mankind.
Throughout the game, players will switch between six different characters, each with their own distinct personalities, as they explore 45 diverse locations with densely animated pre-rendered settings. The game uses innovative storytelling techniques to create a unique gameplay experience. The characters come to life with fluid movements and realistic facial expressions created with Emotion FX 2 technology. The game also features cinematic cut-scenes designed using advanced camera techniques pioneered by feature films.
The exceptional visuals of Overclocked: A History of Violence are enhanced by shadow and shader effects, real-time atmospheric particle effects such as rain, snow, and lightning, and dynamic lighting. The game also features a unique icon-based dialogue system.
