F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin Game Review
F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, like its predecessor F.E.A.R., is a first person shooter (FPS) video game, developed by Monolith Productions, and released for Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 under the publishing deal with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. It is an enhanced version of the original F.E.A.R. and is also the sequel to F.E.A.R. The story of the game involves the character of Angelina Jolie, who must save her daughter from terrorists after she becomes a missing person. The player takes control of this mysterious heroine and is allowed to choose various weapons and fighting tactics to do so. The player is not allowed to look around or change clothing during the game, but instead must rely on the keyboard for most movements.
Angelina Jolie returns as the protagonist in this game, and her storyline is almost identical to the events of previous installments. This time, however, she must fight against unseen enemies and the Xenlogic Overseers, who are believed to be behind the attacks on human beings. The majority of the scenes are set in the present, although there are some flashbacks to take place during the earlier parts of the game. The storyline is quite different from its predecessors in that it is focused on a worldwide pandemic that sweeps across most cities in the name of a biological arms delivery called the XENOPHAGIC. This biological weapon, when exposed to the atmospheric conditions, kills most humans and creatures that are near to it, including the intended recipient of the weapon, Angelina Jolie. The subsequent events involve several sequels, all based on the events of the first game.
Although it is only a video game, F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin lives up to the expectations of previous installments. It also gives players a taste of what's in store for them in the future of the video game industry, as well as delving into the world of biotechnology and military affairs. Day 1 Studios, the company behind the production of F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, shouldered the task of making sure that the game's story is as compelling as it could be, with the help of top-class animation and sound effects.
