CrimeHot is a free science fiction visual novel with some comedy elements. The idea behind the title was to turn a real comic book into a game, which is all it basically is. While there are some other items to interact with, you’ll spend your time reading the comic book within a 3D environment. If you’re looking for an actual sci-fi game, you can try Hibernated 1 and Galactic Beacon Brigade.
While you’ll mostly read the comic book, there are some other things to do. You can zoom in on each comic panel to get a better view of the design or read the text. There are also 3D objects in the background you can click on, or summon more to kill the boredom.
Read the CrimeHot comic book
The platform for CrimeHot is an intelligent design to market a comic book that you can buy online. You can download and read it for free on the game, or purchase a hard copy of the sci-fi comic. It features the same story, but you’ll interact with them differently.
The story is set in the future when humans have left Earth to colonize the universe. The main character is a thief, while there are stunning cartoon designs and dialogue.
Interact with pages
It’s easy to interact with the comic book pages. You can click on each one to turn them, or you can head back if you want a recap. There are also zoom buttons with a magnifying glass if you want to look at a specific pane in more detail.
Summon objects
The comic book is set in a 3D environment with the book highlighted in the centre. When you move the comic away, you can click on other items, such as gems and lamps. There’s even a caption where the developer explains how he put the game together.
A real page-turner
CrimeHot doesn’t have any gameplay aspects to it in terms of real games. It’s more of a book set in a gaming platform, where you can amuse yourself by clicking on random objects.
All it really does is give you the chance to read the comic for free with the hopes that you’ll buy the physical copy of the comic. Still, there may be visual novel fans that will enjoy it.
