Review of Frontline Assault
Battlefield 2142 is an up-and-coming futuristic first-person shooter game developed by DICE. It's the second game in the acclaimed series of futuristic shooters created by Electronic Arts. In this game, players can choose to play as any of the six major characters - US Colonel Shepard, UK Prime Minister John Shepherd, Russian President Kolcraft, China's president, General Zhizhen Shen, or South Korean General Sung Lee. As you can see, this game will be set apart from its predecessors, which were more action-oriented, by having a more political theme.
The story of the game picks back up after the events of the previous installment of the award-winning series. Here, players find that they've been chosen to participate in the war between Earth and thesauri race, which is being fought out on the distant planet called Mars. Once there, they find that the combat has stalled, and that the only way to advance is to achieve a high ranking on the multiplayer ladder. At the highest level, players are able to control their own armies and engage in a variety of different multiplayer challenges. Once one manages to achieve a new rank, the game opens up more options for them: they can now unlock better weaponry, gain access to rare military vehicles, and load more multiplayer classes. Each of these offers a sense of progression as you work your way through the single player campaign to complete the game.
On the surface, the majority of players will choose to play either the US or UK faction. This will limit them to the available weapons, which are quite standard and familiar (in terms of gameplay), but the unlocking of other resources such as vehicles, rare vehicle parts, and aircraft will open up entirely new ways of playing the game. For example, if you're interested in playing a sniper role, for example, getting access to the Marksman rifle will give you an additional benefit, as it is one of the rarest in-game weapons. Regardless of which faction you ultimately choose, you can enjoy this well-made single player game that will challenge you to overcome all of its challenges.
