Free video player

Ampare HTML5 Video Player Free is a free video player developed by Ampare Engine. Much like other apps such as MX Player, Video Player All Format and X Video Player, it allows you to watch videos on your Android device. It’s geared towards watching online videos since it uses the HTTPS Live Streaming protocol.
It allows the app to receive content from a content delivery network or online video player. But that’s not all. It also allows you to load your files in a straightforward way, which aims to make it an all-purpose video player.
Essential as it can be
Unlike its competitors, which add features to distinguish themselves, Ampare HTML5 Video Player Free is as low-profile as it can get. There’s hardly any user interface save for choosing files, reproducing video, toggling the volume and a full-screen mode.
That said, there have been a few improvements over the previous version. The “choose file” button has moved, and some ads were removed. However, its last update was in 2017, so the developer doesn’t currently seem to be very active on the project.
Support for different formats
Being an HTML5 player, it supports WEBM, OGG, MP4 and other formats such as MP3 and OGV. Even though there are several formats supported, many users complain that it doesn’t work at all or doesn’t open specific formats.
This could be because of the need for updates or the lack of instructions on how to use the app or what it can handle.
Worth a try
If you’re looking for a straightforward new HTML5 video player, Ampare HTML5 Video Player Free may suit your needs. This is because even though it supposedly allows you to watch videos in different file formats, sometimes it simply doesn’t work. The lack of updates points to a dead project, which might be one of the reasons for this.
Still, it’s worth taking a shot at it and seeing if it works for you. Don’t expect any fancy features, though. It’s just intended to load and play videos. There’s no audio EQ, colour settings or anything of the like.
