Review of Advent NEON

AdventNEON is an addictive indie 2D action-adventure game, which focuses on control, responsiveness, and vibrancy. The story begins with you finding yourself in a seemingly impossible situation wherein your only escape from Earth is an experimental spaceship which has crashed landed on a planet called Earth. You land on the planet and are immediately greeted by hostile creatures known as the Xenon. They attack you, but fortunately, you are equipped with an experimental space ship that can fly off to safety. It's at this point in the game where you take control of your newly-developed life-saving machine, called Advent NEON, which is actually a rogue cyborg that can absorb the alien energy called "Neural Energy" to fire powerful blasts of energy called "Ascorb".
In order to save the life of the xenon, you have to find out why they attacked and use a variety of weapons against them, such as guns, blades, missiles, and even a powerful machine called "Maverick". Although you take on the enemy on your own, controlling each of the different characters in AdventNEON through the use of a series of keyboard commands, it helps to actually play the game using the keyboard layout as a means of training your muscle memory to react the same way when you're into the shoes of neon, a much more practical way to play the game than if you were to use the WASD/ROLE scheme. The difficulty of AdventNEON is increased depending on how quickly you respond to the attacks of the xenon. It helps that the keyboard controls actually include a counter that can give you an idea of just how effective a move was as it increases with every successful move.
Overall, AdventNEON provides a very solid experience that is easy to pick up despite its simplicity. The game contains a lot of very useful tips for an example on how to use the dual swords efficiently as well as helpful hints and tips for making the most out of your jumps. In addition, the character designs are quite nice. The two main characters, which are Dora and her friend Boots have excellent cartoon quality graphics which are very easy on the eyes. AdventNEON offers extremely fast combat along with a very unique and interesting storyline, which I enjoyed thoroughly.
