PASCO Spectrometry: A Comprehensive Teaching Tool for Science Education
PASCO Spectrometry is a free Android application designed for students and teachers of all levels to integrate spectrometry into the teaching and learning of physics, chemistry, and biology. The app allows the user to connect a PASCO Wireless Spectrometer and insert a solution to measure absorbance, transmittance, and fluorescence of solutions. This app is equipped with features such as auto-set integration time to determine optimum spectrum, comparison of multiple spectra to each other and to a set of reference lines of common elements including Hydrogen, Helium, Mercury, and more. It also quickly calibrates dark and reference spectra for solution spectrometry, plots absorbance and transmittance on the same graph, applies a linear fit to determine relationships, determines unknown concentration based on standard curves and user feedback, calculates inverse and natural logarithmic data with built-in calculator functions, annotates the graph, and takes snapshots of pages for journaling and assessments. Furthermore, Spectrometry provides the same user experience for tablets and computers, making it an accessible tool for any classroom. PASCO Scientific has been providing science education tools for over 50 years, and this app is no exception. With its comprehensive features and user-friendly interface, PASCO Spectrometry is an excellent tool for science educators.
