Free Resident Evil and Castlevania-inspired game

Residentvania is a video game created by Resident Evil and Castlevania fans, mixing the universe of RE: Village with the gameplay of classic 2D Castlevania games. OcO, the developer, invites you to fight your way through Castle Dimitrescu, a famous section of Capcom’s survival horror title.
This platformer pays homage to retro-gaming like Symphony of Seven Souls, which emulated the look of PlayStation 1 games. This game recreates the Super NES look of the famous gothic platformer Castlevania. You can download it for free on Windows.
Level design
Level design is the most impressive part of the game; OcO managed to recreate the village of Resident Evil VIII in 2D without losing the ambience of Capcom’s title. You’ll explore the village and Castle Dimitrescu and find many small details that were in the original game. Once inside the castle, it feels like a legacy Castlevania game, with platforms, traps and even secrets to find.
Gameplay
The biggest challenge was to take all the mechanics of a next-gen first-person game and translate it into a more limited 2D game. OcO did this successfully; you are able to fight with your knife and shoot a pistol when you find ammo. They also kept the survival aspect of the game; ammo is spare, so you’ll have to use your knife most of the time.
Controls
If you’ve ever played a Castlevania game, you know the controls are relatively simple. As you progress, the gameplay will throw more at you the more you play. It’s no different in this game. You can use either your keyboard or a console controller to play this game.
Discover RE Village in a new way
The game is short, but it’s fun to play and will bring back memories to long-time Castlevania fans while also helping you to relive the Village experience in a new way. Currently, the game consists only of an opening level in the castle, but we can hope for more levels in the future.
Still, it presents an exhilarating experience that’s set to horrify and excite you, all at the same time.
