Darkest of Days: Travel Through Time to Stop History Alterations

Darkest of Days takes historical battles and adds futuristic weapons, creating a unique action game. In the midst of the Battle of Little Bighorn, you find yourself wounded and suddenly saved by a time traveler from the future. You are then recruited to stop a missing time traveler who is suspected of tampering with historical events. The game offers a comprehensive training level and an intriguing storyline.
Graphically, Darkest of Days may appear a bit dated, but it is still acceptable. The animation of talking faces is basic, and the close-up textures lack detail. However, the sound design is good, although some of the voice acting is a bit off. The gameplay is a mix of traditional first-person shooter (FPS) and "on rails" shooter, with highly scripted levels.
One of the highlights of Darkest of Days is the variety of weaponry available. Using futuristic machine guns against a US Civil War-era army is undeniably cool. Despite its quirks, Darkest of Days has some great moments, and the lengthy demo is definitely worth playing through.
