Crop Calculators: A Handy Tool for Corn Growers
Crop Calculators is a free Android app developed by the University of Wisconsin Integrated Pest Management. It is a utility tool designed for corn growers to calculate grain yields, maturity dates, and silage price adjustments using their smartphones or tablets. The app has three corn crop calculators that provide various features.
The first calculator, Silage Moisture Cost Adjuster for Corn, compares a negotiated price for silage and adjusts the price, taking into account how much moisture is present. The second calculator, Maturity Date Predictor for Corn, calculates date ranges for 50% kernel milk and black layer when the user enters a tassel date and provides information on whether the frost will occur before or after the date range. The third calculator, Grain Yield Estimator for Corn, calculates the density of the field in plants per 1000th acre and provides suggested values for the next three inputs that should be adjusted throughout the growing season.
