Status Saver for WhatsApp allows you to save profile images from your friends on WhatsApp. This app's oldest claim to fame was that it could download images from your friends' feeds, even if they had not shared those images with you, but that is no longer the case.
When you load images onto WhatsApp messenger and forward them, the images are loaded onto a server. This app used to grab server images that you could download onto your phone, like a WhatsApp recovery app for other people's images. This app no longer functions like this and can now only download profile images from WhatsApp and people's GIF images.
Does Status Saver still work?
You can key into the GIFs people send because they are stored on third-party servers. But this downloader tool only works with profile images. All of its other functions have ceased to operate.
If people share images with you on WhatsApp, then they are automatically downloaded to your phone. If people have not shared images with you, then you cannot download them with this tool.
Do I need to open WhatsApp to use this?
One of the key benefits of this status saver program used to be that you didn't have to open WhatsApp in order to use it. However, since the app no longer functions, this is a moot point.
All variants of social media downloaders need frequent updates from their developers because the social media networks are always updating their software to pacify downloader apps. Status Saver for WhatsApp will remain mostly non-functional until it is updated again.
Full of vacant advert space
This WhatsApp image downloader is mostly non-functional since WhatsApp does not host images and videos on the same servers that this downloader keys into. Since it was abandoned by the developer, there is now lots of blank space on the app where adverts used to live.
This means that even if you do use this app to do things like download a profile image from one of your friends, the WhatsApp downloader interface is ugly and very difficult to use.
