Sarah Jessica Parker revealed in an interview with Variety that a full official Sex and the City TV show revival are on the way! The series, which first aired on HBO in 1998 and lasted for six seasons, concluded after the fourth season with a spin-off starring Carrie Fisher. There have been many rumors that a Sex and the City movie are in the works, but there's no confirmation yet from the studio or Ms. Parker herself. However, given the success of the original TV show, it would only be a matter of time before we see another adaptation.
Sex and the City were a hilarious series that poked fun at everything from big business to relationships to fashion magazines. The characters were always interesting, from the perpetually hot Sexually Friendly Mayor to Carrie's dim view of herself. The series focused on the city and its diverse population, including those of the sexual persuasion. The romantic comedy was, for the most part, not for the faint of heart as Samantha and Carrie often had to deal with some very adult topics such as herpes and pregnancy. However, the final scene of the last episode of season five, "So You Think You Can Dance", hints at a possible sex and the city connection and may just be the push that the series needs to get back on track.
A possible follow up to Sex and the City? HBO has kept mum on the speculations, but a source close to the production tells Variety that the producers have "talked" about a possible revival of the series. They would, of course, need to perfect the casting for the part, as well as finding a source for the stories that the previous cast and crew left behind. The upside is that it doesn't look like Carrie will be leaving the show anytime soon. HBO programming president Michael Lombardo told reporters recently that there are "no plans to make more of this series." Could a new HBO series featuring Carrie, Daniella Cicarelli and John Mahoney headline next year's installment of the hit HBO phenomenon?
