Intrusion 2, developed by Aleksey Abramenko, is a single-player Run and Gun game that takes inspiration from classic games like Metal Slug and Contra. The game was a finalist in the 2013 Independent Games Festival for its Technical Excellence. The game's setting is a distant ice-covered planet where players control a nameless protagonist who battles against an enemy war corporation.
One of the unique features of Intrusion 2 is its physics-based enemies. The sci-fi style of the setting allows for a variety of mecha-enemies, each with its own unique behavior based on physics and procedural animation, resulting in ragdoll physics for the 2D sprites. The game is relatively short, with only nine levels, but compensates for this with scaled stages filled with enemies, providing an old-school gauntlet-like experience. Players can mount some of the enemies to gain extra mobility. Additionally, after every three levels, players must go through a multistage boss battle. On hard mode, the game ramps up the number of enemies and threats.
