Pathogen-X is an action and survival game for Windows. You can download the demo from the website for free. Its 3D graphics make it an enjoyable experience and the eerie music will keep you on your toes.
A virus has broken out in Delta Lab, infecting many and producing violent mutants. You are special forces agent Hawk, and your mission is to infiltrate the lab and find the vaccine before the lab is destroyed.
In the demo version, you play in Arcade Mode where all the elements and levels are random. Your goal is to retrieve the vaccine from the storage room quickly and return with it to the cargo elevator. Your final rank is determined by your kills, damage taken, items gathered, and time to complete the level.
When starting the game, you explore the lab and collect weapons. You discover a computer with instructions on gameplay. You can run faster by holding Shift, interact using E and crouch with C. You can press the Space key to do an evasive roll. The Tab key lets you check your status and inventory. You can follow the main pathways in blue on the integrated map. Throughout the levels, you will be given instructions to aid your progress. For example, find the key card that you need to access the storage room.
You need to find five weapons to defend yourself: the handgun, shotgun, assault rifle, desert eagle, and missile launcher.
Pathogen-X upcoming features
The game is not finished, with more features to come, further integrating elements of modern and retro gameplay. The paid version will have a story mode where you will be Agent Hawk on a mission to defeat the hostile mutants, collect weapons and other items, all while searching for the mastermind behind the virus.
In service of the overall nostalgic atmosphere, the developer will also add the option to enable fixed camera angles, evocative of the retro games that inspired it. The Arcade Mode will provide more locations, navigation choices, and maybe even an option to play as another character.
