FolderVisualizer is a handy little tool that allows you to view what files and folders are taking up too much space on your disk drives. It analyzes your storage and shows you exactly what files and folders are taking up what amount of space on your disks.
FolderVisualizer is a great solution that lets you keep an eye on your resources, so that you don’t run out of space. The app comes with an array of tools for exploring the various folders on your computer and then deleting the redundant ones, which take up the most space.
The app has a fresh looking, intuitive interface that is easy to navigate. The Main window consists of a three tabbed interface that shows an Overview tab, a File Type tab, and a Top 100 tab. Each of these tabs provides you with data on the current state of your hard drives.
When you first run FolderVisualizer, the app performs an automatic scan of the drives on your computer; the duration depends entirely on the number of files that you have stored on your drives. As soon as it is complete, it displays their capacity, used space and free memory available, along with the scan status. The app also provides you with data on the total amount of used memory on your computer and displays the data in a bar form, in order to make it easier to read.
FolderVisualizer also gives you some statistics on your files, showing you which files take up the most amounts of space. Files are sorted by type, e.g. documents, audio, video or images files. You also have the option to open any file directly from within the app and view exactly what files in every category are the largest.
Overall, FolderVisualizer is a simple tool that lets you locate the largest files and folders on your computer. The interface is easy to navigate and the the graphical pie chart representations of the data can be understood by anyone. On the downside, there is not much in the way of configuration options, however for basic drive scanning, FolderVisualizer is a good tool that gets the job done.
