AIM for Mac is a completely revamped version of the America Online Instant Messenger client. It offers a variety of customization options, including the ability to configure unique sounds for each contact and add numerous AIM plug-ins for games, stock updates, and weather forecasts. The plug-in feature sets it apart from other messaging clients and allows for easy expansion of the messenger client. AIM for Mac also includes standard features such as video chats, phone calls, and AOL email integration. However, it requires users to sign up for an AOL account and text messages are only available in the US. While AIM for Mac could be a good option for those who enjoy customizing their messenger client with sounds, there are better alternatives available for non-AOL mail users, such as Adium.
