Killing Floor Review

Killing Floor is a first person, co-op first-person zombie shooter video game developed by Tripwire Interactive and published and distributed by Certaintone. It was initially released as an Unreal Tournament 2021 modification for Windows, and later on as a freeware for OS X, later on for Microsoft Windows. The game is the spawn point of several similar, but different games produced and released by Tripwire.

Like its predecessors, Killing Floor features the return of "procedurally-generated" maps, or those that are generated for every player upon joining the game; additionally, it provides the option for a player to change the level of detail (polygon resolution and texture mapping) of his/her map on the fly, which can be done with a simple click on the map menu. Although Killing Floor features more content than the latter two versions, the former version is recommended for new players and experts alike. New players would want to stick to the more straightforward, less complex maps that will give them enough playing practice before moving to more complex maps, like the ones present in Killing Floor 2. Even experts would recommend the simpler maps present in Killing Floor, since the more complex maps can be quite daunting to newcomers.

Killing Floor requires sufficient amount of computer memory and a fairly high-end graphics card to operate properly. Fortunately, it is supported by many modern-day video cards such as ATI and Nvidia, as well as dedicated and high-end steam engines. Modern computers are also capable of supporting third-party applications, which makes Killingfloor available to play using other modern-day video games consoles, such as X-Box, Game Cube, and Sony PlayStation. However, due to bugs present in third-party applications that make the game less enjoyable to play, Killing Floor remains only available to those who downloaded the Killing Floor game through the Steamworks application.
