Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos is an action-packed space simulation game developed by Particle Systems. Set in the Badlands cluster, the game takes place 100 years after the first Independence War. The player takes on the role of a protagonist seeking revenge for their father's death, leading a band of revolutionary pirates against the Corporations.
This game offers innovative features such as a user-friendly interface, online multiplayer support for up to 8 players, and the revolutionary Flux Graphics Engine that is Microsoft Direct3D compatible. The game also has a physically realistic flight model that simulates both linear and angular momentum, inertia, and rotational moment of inertia. Additionally, the game provides a non-linear gameplay spanning 16 star systems, where the player can interact with dynamically-created space traffic, command four flyable ships, and over 30 weapons and ship accessories that can be used in near-infinite combinations. Please note that multiplayer gaming on local networks is still possible, but Atari doesn't maintain active servers for this game anymore. Also, while successful testing was done on modern machines, certain configurations may not work. Our testing has found that with most machines, if you run this game under Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode, it works without issue.
