CPU-Z is an assessment software that gives you all the information about your smartphone. It’s only available for Android, but it’s free to use. The file size is small and doesn’t use too much of your battery.
Accuracy
There aren’t too many things you can adjust when using CPU-Z. You can change the temperature units and choose which type of information to display. That’s about the extent of the settings. The design is to help you stay updated on your phone status.
The interface is very neat and straightforward. You can find everything in separate categories. It would be much better if there were links embedded in these metrics that tell you what they are. Unfortunately, you’re going to have to look them up on your own.
Gives a variety of statistics
The data this app lets you see isn’t accessible through your device. You can see beyond the basic info such as the make, model, and resolution. It includes clock speed, API level, and current temperature. These data are also more accurate than what your phone tells you. This is because the manufacturers tend to round up their numbers to attract consumers.
Under the Sensor category, you’ll find the stats for your Android Accelerometer. Under that are every component that involves motion, e.g. the Step Detector. On a professional level, what this app provides seems lacking. The dimensions are too sensitive and can be inaccurate. If you want to look deeper into the Accelerometer, try using a separate software.
Some advertisements
CPU-Z is free to use, so it comes with some advertisement. These will pop up during use and without warning. The good thing is, they don’t appear too often and aren’t that disruptive. You’re only reading information, anyway, so there’s no real progress to lose.
The app can organize all the listed data into a text document. Use the online validation feature to turn it to a link that you can access any time. It’s very helpful when you need to send references to your phone manufacturer for a repair.
Good for tech-savvy people
CPU-Z is useful only when you understand what you’re seeing. You need a bit of technical knowledge to make sense of the displayed information. For those who only buy their Android for its basic utilities, downloading this is pointless.
While it won’t make you like your phone better or hate it worse, this app provides much-needed insights. If you want to learn more about the device that you rely on every day, give it a try.
