GeoServer is a Java-based software server that lets you view and edit geospatial data. GeoServer allows for great flexibility in map creation and data sharing by making use of open standards set forth by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC).
Implementing the Web Map Service (WMS) standard, GeoServer is able to create maps in a variety of output formats. A free mapping library, OpenLayers, is integrated into GeoServer, making map generation both quick and easy.
The GeoServer app is built on Geotools, an open source Java GIS toolkit. GeoServer can display data on any of the popular mapping apps such as Google Maps, Google Earth, Yahoo Maps, and Microsoft Virtual Earth. Additionally, GeoServer can connect with traditional GIS architectures such as ESRI ArcGIS.
As GeoServer is written in Java, it allows you to share and edit geospatial data. It has been designed for interoperability and it publishes data from any major spatial data source using open standards: WMS, WFS, WCS, WPS and REST.
Response time of WMS 1.3.0 significantly higher than vs WMS 1.x.x on systems whose axis in north/east order.
NullPointerException during WMS request of layer group when caching is enabled.
Intermittent build failure in NamespacesWfsTest.
Add WMS GetMap and GetFeatureInfo tests for App-Schema MongoDB integration.
CatalogRepository cannot find a store by name, if the store has just been added.
CatalogRepository should return a null on store not found, instead it throws a RuntimeException.
[Importer] ImportJSONWriter failing due to missing consistency checks on "location" when "expand>0".
Layer page will only show up to 25 bands, regardless of the actual set of bands available.
Rule based sld error while publishing geopacakge.
Undocumented GDAL 2.3.0 CSV output geometry column name change breaks WPSOgrTest.
OpenLayers preview do not report exceptions "in image" anymore.
REST: listing granules in a structured coverage view fails with exception.
REST: cannot harvest files unless the input has "file://" prefix.
Http based icons no longer get drawn.
Allow for the FeatureSizeFeatureCollection to delegate.
Cannot access or delete single granule via REST when using multi-coverage views.
FileWrapperResourceTheoryTest fails if java.io.tmpdir is relative.
[Community Backup & Restore] Local Resource Finder on Restore does not check if File is null.
GeorectifyCoverage fails to handle paths with spaces.
InputLimitsTest ignores java.io.tmpdir.
CoverageViewTest intermittent failures.
Multiple WCS Custom Dimension Subsets Not Supported.
Reflected cross-site scripting vulnerabilities in wms.
GeoServerSecuredPage might not redirect to login page in some obscure cases after Wicket upgrade.
Upgrade Spring to 4.3.18.RELEASE.
Intermittent build failure caused by H2 log race with fixture data directory deletion.
Allow update of products by PUTting ZIP file too in OpenSearch EO REST API.
Upgrade Apache POI dependencies.
Upgrade jasypt dependency.
Upgrade json-lib dependency to 2.4.
Upgrade bouncycastle provider to 1.60.
Add a method on GridCoverageWrapper to return the wrapped GridCoverage.
Add forceLabels=on in the style editor map legend.
ImageMosaic should work when the images have no CRS information.
GetTimeSeries slowness against multi-band coverage views.
Add cache hit/miss and miss reason to the information captured by monitoring.
[Importer] Multipart upload should lock data before it gets removed by the job cleaner.
SLD service improvements.
Remove GTOPO30 References from GeoServer.
