Free rocket launch simulator
Screenshots
Starbase Simulator is a free rocket launcher simulator developed by Ashtorak. This free Windows game lets you build and send your rocket into space. This is a true simulation, so expect a lot of maths and physics before successfully launching your first rocket. However, it should be noted that the game is still in development, and the creator regularly updates it with new content, bug fixes, and graphics improvements.
If you’re a fan of ultra-realistic simulators, you can also try Ship Simulator if you enjoy the ocean or TruckersMP and Euro Truck Simulator 2, if you’re into driving trucks.
Graphics
The Starbase Simulator offers attractive graphics, and the installations around the base look incredibly detailed and functional. The background and what you see on the horizon is less exhaustive, as it’s not really important for a simulator with menu-based gameplay. However, the rocket parts and equipment you have to interact with are incredibly detailed and will satisfy any SpaceX or NASA enthusiast.
The simulator is an RTX-compatible game. If you own an Nvidia RTX, you’ll experience more detail and dynamic lighting.
Gameplay
You’re the sole engineer of a launch base, tasked with putting together a rocket to launch spaceships and satellites into orbit. You can walk around the base, use SPMT to transport the parts to the launch pad, and interact with the various consoles to manage parameters. Tasks include checking the propellant, pressure, temperature, weight, and more.
Constantly updated
Starbase Simulator is still an ongoing project with updates adding new content, fixing issues and improving on it over time. The most recent update, the Transport Update, adds oxygen, methane and nitrogen tanks, ways to transport the rockets and more.
A very realistic simulator
It’s rare to find simulators that are as detailed as Starbase Simulator. More than just a casual time-filler, it lets you access all the controls to transport, build, and launch a rocket without compromising to make it more accessible.
It’s best suited for players who already have some knowledge of physics and how a rocket works. This isn’t for you if you’re looking for an undemanding, lighthearted game. However, if you have more expertise in the field, you’ll enjoy one of the most realistic simulators.
