Google's new Android operating system, Kit Kat, has been out for a few weeks now and although it is only designed to support Kit Kat devices which are based on the Android SDK, it does have the ability to run most other apps. The reason why Kit Kat is limited to only certain devices is because it does not support many of the Android features that have been implemented by manufacturers in their various derivative android applications that run on top of the default Android SDK. This means that if you have an android tablet or a smartphone that uses the Android platform (such as the HTC Desire HD or the Galaxy Tab) then you will be unable to play the latest, greatest games or apps on the market. Not all tablet and smartphone manufacturers have access to the Android Kit Kat compatibility settings, so this effectively means that if you want to enjoy the benefits of having games and other apps on your Android tablet or smartphone you will have to purchase a license each time you want to install a different application on your device.

As a result of this limitation, the Nexus brand has been forced to release Jelly Bean on a much more frequent basis in order to cater to users who cannot wait for the official release of Kit Kat. With Jelly Bean installed on almost all of the android smartphones and tablets that are being sold in stores, there is no longer any excuse for customers to have to pay through the nose just to be able to download the latest and greatest apps. The good news for Nexus users though is that Jelly Bean is also compatible with many of the other popular Android operating systems that are currently available on the market.

This means that users who already own one of the two Nexus smartphones that use the Gingerbread operating system can continue to use their phones whilst enjoying the latest versions of their favorite apps. In order to do this, users will have to look to other manufacturers and their respective operating systems such as the HTC Desire HD and the Galaxy Tab. Although users will be unable to download and install apps from Jelly Bean to use on their Nexus devices, they will be able to access the same amount of content that is already on their phones. This is because most of the apps that will be compatible with the 6P are also compatible with other Gingerbread based smartphones and tablets such as the HTC Desire HD and the Galaxy Tab.
