Parallels for Mac
Parallels allows Apple users to run Windows on a Mac OS X computer. The software creates a Windows virtual machine that is able to run alongside the native operating system. Whilst Apple's Bootcamp app creates a bootable copy of Windows. Parallels is different in that it runs Windows within an environment on OS X. If you need it, Windows can be run in its own window, in full screen mode, or in an integrated view called Coherence. Coherence allows Mac and Windows apps to be used side by side. Key features include: Ultimate flexibility. Retina display support. Connect devices. One-click performance tuning. Office 365 integration. Save disc space. Travel mode. Works with Boot Camp. Parallels can modify the standard Mac OS X interface, and adds a new window control button for any VMs. Along with the existing buttons that close and minimise windows, Parallels has a new button, which allows you to switch a VM into Coherence mode, thereby hiding the Windows desktop. This then allows any Windows apps to seamlessly sit right on the Mac OS desktop. A great feature of Parallels that is worth noting, is when you run Windows 10 in Coherence mode, the Windows Action Centre is able to be viewed as a panel, which slides in from the right-hand side of the screen, next to the Notification panel in Mac OS X. Overall, Parallels is not the only virtualization option that is available for Mac OS X users who need to run Windows apps. It is, however, more of a polished product than the other products. The close integration of both Windows OS and Mac OS provides users the best of both worlds. You can switch easily between apps, regardless of which operating system they were written for, especially using Coherence.

Pages
Pages is the answer to the wildly popular Microsoft Word that is frequently used by PC users around the world. With the launch of the OS Mavericks, Apple has tried to change the definition of Pages with a beautiful new interface, some powerful tools for editing and a few great templates as well. The new Pages application is elegant, intuitive and comes with a really useful collaboration feature. For users of Microsoft Word or even the older Pages application, getting to know the new Pages might take some time but it is definitely worth the effort. It comes free with new Mac products and can be purchased separately or with the iWork Suite as well. Graphics are always an area Apple excels in, which can be seen here as well. Apple, as usual, has gone for a very visual design. The code has been completely rewritten and there are over 60 new templates available. The interface is visually appealing. The toolbar has been simplified with a new format panel. The header and footer can be applied directly by clicking on the document. If someone has a link to the document, they view or collaborate on its latest version through iCloud. The language support has also been improved with the new version. The bottom line on Apple Pages is that it not only looks great, it works extremely well too. The tables, graphics and charts are great options and it has a more unified format that can even handle the MS Word documents.
DaVinci Resolve
Blackmagic Design team members are rightly proud of their DaVinci Resolve 16 product and its host of new features. They claim it’s the world’s only solution that combines professional 8K editing, visual effects, colour correction and audio post production all in one software tool. So, you can move between editing, effects, colour and audio pretty much with a single click. It’s also reported to be the only solution designed for multiple user collaboration. This means that editors, colourists, assistants, sound designers and VFX artists can all simultaneously work on the same project in real-time. Exciting new features This latest update is particularly sought after thanks to an array of new features. The new Cut Page has particularly caught the eye, as it is specifically designed for editors that need to work quickly and to tight deadlines. Meanwhile, the new DaVinci Neural Engine uses machine learning to bring in powerful new features like speed warp, facial recognition and more. Fusion is also noticeably faster and Fairlight adds immersive 3D Audio. Let’s not forget adjustment clips can let you apply effects and grades to clips on the timeline. You can then ‘quick export’ to upload projects to YouTube and Vimeo from anywhere in the application. New GPU accelerated scopes can also provide more technical monitoring options than ever before. So, as Blackmagic Design say, DaVinci Resolve 16 is “a massive release” with hundreds of features directly sought after by customers. The complete package It’s difficult to think of a major feature that DaVinci Resolve 16 doesn’t have in its armoury. You can enjoy amazing video transitions and effects which can be customised later. Pure digital audio tools are also readily available, whether you’re after music or you would like to record your own narration. So, if you’re after complete video optimisation – you’ve come to the right place! Video stabilisation will make sure any camera shakiness is reduced. You can also speed up, slow down or reverse any video clips during playback. Other visual effects can also be fine-tuned, while plugin support is available to add thousands of tools and effects. The list really does go on! The Blackmagic Design website is packed with explanations of all DaVinci Resolve 16’s top features.
