Heroes of Paradis: Prologue is a free-to-play fanmade game produced by Mudskip Productions using the RPG Maker VX Ace. In this role-playing crossover between Dungeons and Dragons (DnD) and the hit British novel "Good Omens," the game combines humor and fantasy elements from the novel written by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman with the rich lore of the DnD universe. The result is a game that is reminiscent of 8-bit classics like Chrono Trigger or modern contemporaries like Game of Thrones: The 8 bit game.
Heroes of Paradis: Prologue is based on an unfilmed 1992 script for Good Omens. The player can control William Ange, a human based on Aziraphale, and Jacinth, a Tiefling based on Crowley. The unique story immediately engages the player, starting with William being lost in a forest and finding an unexpected companion. Their meeting spirals into a complex tale of good and evil and the friendship in the middle of it.
In terms of graphics, the game has a fun Final Fantasy spinoff look, with Jacinth even resembling an 8-bit Deadpool in a costume. Despite the limitations of the graphics engine, the developers manage to make each major character visually stand out. However, there are some bugs that cause the game to freeze and force players to restart or reload their last save. Other than that, the game is a fun 8-bit RPG that offers an immersive experience, favoring an RPG approach over traditional tabletop mechanics.
Overall, Heroes of Paradis: Prologue is a great fanmade game that successfully combines the worlds of Dungeons & Dragons and Good Omens. With its engaging story, great character designs, and nostalgic 8-bit graphics, it offers a fun and unique experience for players.
