Easy-to-use, tag-based alternative to Spotlight

Punakea is a small app that offers an easy-to-use, tag-based alternative to Spotlight. Developed by Nudgenudge, this free program allows you to add tags to your files and bookmarks, freeing you from the strict hierarchy of Finder's folder structure. With Punakea, you can distinguish between similar files by tagging them with keywords, making them easier to find.
Punakea sits discreetly on your sidebar, ready to be accessed with a simple click or a hotkey that you can set up. To tag a file, you simply drag and drop it into the program. As you create tags, a tag cloud builds up, giving you instant access to the most frequently-used words.
While Punakea is fully compatible with Snow Leopard, there is a known bug with the Quick Search function. Additionally, while it supports a wide range of file types, there may be some that it does not accept. Despite these limitations, Punakea is one of the best tagging tools available and is a valuable addition to your file organization toolkit.
