newTunes is a free Mac program developed by Jim-george in the category of System Tuning & Utilities. It is a handy widget that allows users to stay updated on new releases from their favorite music bands. With newTunes, users can search and display their favorite artists from iTunes, creating a list that can be refreshed at any time.
One of the main features of newTunes is that it crawls Amazon to find information on new releases of the artists included in the user's list. The program provides links to buy or pre-order the new songs, as well as options to ban or mark them as favorites. Users can also adjust the number of days after which a track is considered too old to be new.
While newTunes offers a simple list layout, its interface is slightly unattractive. The dark blue color scheme makes it difficult to read the names of artists and tracks. Additionally, it is surprising that the widget takes artist info from iTunes but does not search the iTunes Store for new songs.
Despite these drawbacks, newTunes is a useful tool for music enthusiasts who want to stay informed about new releases from their favorite artists.
