Railroad Engineer is a train simulation game developed by SP Digital Arts Inc. The game allows players to build railroads, drive trains, collect resources, deliver goods, and watch cities grow. The game is set in a world where there are several types of raw resources that spawn randomly on the map. To collect these resources, players can build resource collection buildings and then transport them to manufacturing facilities to convert them into more advanced goods.
There are seven raw resources in the game; wood, coal, iron, rock, food, plants, and oil. These resources can be combined into ten different products such as lumber, steel, processed food, fuel, chemicals, medicine, glass, clothing, and plastic. There are also six "advanced" types of good in the game, which can only be created at advanced factories. The game has six types of rail cars that can carry appropriate resources and goods. Players can create their own villages, grow them by supplying them with food, and eventually upgrade them into towns, cities, and metropolises.
