Free US banking app
Truist Mobile is a free banking app for Android that essentially provides a bank in your pocket. You'll need to be running a fairly recent version of Android 8.0 or above and be located in the United States to use it.
The app has many features and services, so you'll likely never need to visit a branch in person again. You can manage your day-to-day funds, any overdrafts and even your investments. If you're still weighing your options regarding mobile banking apps, SunTrust and HSBC also offer apps that are worth considering.
Security
Apart from the more basic mobile banking apps, the functions that Truist Mobile offers are generally similar. However, none of those features is worth anything if you don't have excellent security too.

For example, the Truist app features fingerprint and facial recognition to secure your banking info. You should always protect access to your mobile device, but if that gets compromised, it's assuring to know that you have a second layer of security protecting your banking information.
Deposits
These days, you don't even need to physically go to your bank’s branch to deposit a cheque. With the Truist app, you can deposit a cheque within the app by taking photos and submitting them without ever leaving your home. The process for deposits is quite simple.
Transfers and payments
As you may expect, it's quick and easy to send and receive transfers. It's also straightforward to make ad hoc payments or set up regular ones.
Budgets
A banking service that's often overlooked in mobile apps is budgeting, whether it’s for personal or business reasons. It makes perfect sense to include this because you're using the app for your transactions.
The app will help you plan and manage your budget anytime, as long as you have an internet connection. You may be banking on the go, but you're always in control of your finances.
Our take
Truist has created an extremely intuitive and full-featured app that provides you with standard digital banking tools like payments and transfers. It also lets you manage your money, including loans and overdrafts. The UI is clean and modern, and the on-screen instructions make every operation simple.
In our opinion, the Truist Android app gives you the best of both worlds: the convenience of a super lightweight bank in your pocket and the reassurance that if you need to speak to somebody face to face, there are almost 3,000 branches available across 15 states.
